CALLING ALL PINBALL WIZARDS AND ARCADE GAMERS:  Over 100 pinball machines and classic arcade video games set on free play April 27-29

April 27-29, 2012, Colorado’s Rocky Mountain Pinball Showdown and Gameroom Expo opens its doors to over 100 pinball machines, classic arcade and video games set on free play – No Quarters Needed.

These three days are packed with free pinball, classic arcade video and console games to play, tournaments for all ages and skill levels, free seminars from pinball experts in design, art, and repair, and businesses buying and selling pinball machines and parts. Celebrating its ninth year, the show attracts collectors, hobbyists, the best players in the world and people who just want to have some pinball and gaming fun.

In 2011 the Rocky Mountain Pinball Showdown and Gameroom Exxpo was excited to bring to fans a premier film screening of the pinball movie Special When Lit, 2009 winner of Best Documentary at the Los Angeles United Film Festival and the 2010 Audience Award for Best Feature Documentary at the London United Film Festival.

Fans can win trophies in friendly pinball and console game tournaments that challenge individuals, kids, and parent-kid teams. The show awards over $2,500 in cash prizes, including a $1,000 grand prize for the pinball Open Tournament, where all fans can compete. Open Tournament games will include Stern Pinball’s new release The Rolling Stones, among others. The International Flipper Pinball Association that ranks pinball players among world competitors sanctions the show’s tournaments.

President of Jersey Jack Pinball, Inc., Jack Guarnieri, hosts a free PinChat seminar on his new company designing and manufacturing high-end pinball machines, the first of which is The Wizard of OZ due to begin production in December 2011. Jersey Jack Pinball brings new competition to the pinball industry, the first time since Williams Pinball shut its doors in 1999.

John Trudeau, designer for popular games such as Creature from the Black Lagoon, and Congo, will host a free seminar on his involvement with a one-of-a-kind pinball project in the United Kingdom called Forbidden Planet. Jess Askey will talk about the Internet Pinball Serial Number Database, which collects serial numbers of pinball machines and publishes the database online. Brian "Destruk" Smith hosts a free seminar on turning classic pinball machines into virtual pinball computer games.

Admission is $20 one-day adult pass and $50 for a three-day adult pass; $10 one-day kid pass and $25 for a three-day kids (7-12 years) pass; kids 6 and under free. The show is in a new location near I-25 and Arapahoe Rd. at the Embassy Suites Denver Tech Center, 10250 E. Costilla Ave, Centennial, Colorado, 80112. Doors are open 9 a.m. to midnight Friday, April 27; 9 a.m. to midnight Saturday, April 28; and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 29..
